Normal Day?

Although I had last week off, this week at the Playhouse has seemed relatively normal. It's been a shopping week, so after our relentless shopping at Goodwill last last Friday, we've spent the past few days focusing on shopping for specific items, pants or shirts for guys mostly. However, today we started our day with a meeting with Anne Frett (the director for Fame Jr. as well as Pinkalicious), in which we discussed the nuts and bolts of Fame Jr. It was interesting seeing how different of a show Fame Jr. will be from Pinkalicious, but it's also fun to get to work on both! Anne and Angie (my boss) got off on a tangent about an exhibit at the Art Center (which is right by the Playhouse) and how it related to a concept in Fame. We went shopping for a bit after that. I'm learning to kind of take initiative when it comes to doing things at the Playhouse. Angie went to take a call during shopping today, so I took the opportunity to find two pairs of pants that she really feel in love with which was awesome! It's cool to see stuff you personally choose working for something like this! After shopping we headed back for some lunch and after lunch Angie took us to the Art Center to explore the exhibit. This was a really great learning experience, especially considering Angie gives tours at the Art Center so she knew SO much about the exhibit and other exhibits at the playhouse. The first artist we perused was Tony Feher. His exhibit was basically found objects that he presented in a different way. Angie related his simple objects with unique presentations as something interesting that we could do in our costuming. The second exhibit we explored was the Jackson Pollock painting titled "Mural". Angie explained how Jackson Pollock's movements were imitated in the strokes which were interesting to explore. Everything about the Art Center just felt very revolutionary and new to me and gave me different perspectives on a lot of things! It was so intriguing to see costumes and art related in that way.
