So I hosted my first shows this past weekend all by myself! I really try to engage the audience, and I found one of my better personas is a blunt albeit loving grandmother. I put on a white curly wig and a giant flowered nightgown and hobbled around ComedySportz, telling people about my 11th birthday on the Titanic or anything "before the war". If you notice the title, there were large groups of students who came in to a few of the shows. I told their chaperone that in my youth we used to put children in cages in the back of the classroom if they misbehaved, and asked him if they still did that. He laughed and replied "all the time"; he was a very good sport. The kids noticed my bright orange Nike high-tops and I told them that my grandson got them for me. I ran with it and said my grandson taught me to Party Rock Shuffle, and asked them to sing it for me so I could show them. Needless to say watching a grandmother break it down to LMFAO is quite the spectacle.
I'm learning that when people come to these shows, they like being interacted with individually. A personal touch really engages the audience, and enhances their own experience. Plus I just like to give people a hard time, and they seem to enjoy it, so everyone's happy! And my crazy eyebrows/ huge enthusiastic eyes which I have to keep on lockdown during serious performances seem to be working for me in this particular line of work. Comedy and I are becoming very good friends.
Over and out!

P.S.: Fake mustache adhesive doesn't come off for about 3 days. A little tip that I unfortunately picked up. Hopefully you all can avoid such disasters.
