February 26, 2014

Today was a good day! The stage was finally cleared of all the show choir risers, the sound buffers, and the orchestra chairs and stands were off the stage, so we had all the room in the world to use.

We went over Anything Goes, but we still found out that the music that we are using is still not the correct music we will be needing for the show. All that means is that we need the orchestra pit director or one of the cast members music director to record the music so we can finally get the biggest dance out of the whole show finally put together. I am not worried because it's going to turn out great so that is not what I am worried about. I'm afraid that the kids will start to get nervous and start freaking out becuase we only have about a month left until the show.

Another number that we got a lot of choreo done for was Blow Gabriel Blow! We got the beginning done now are just working on the big dance number part. Which really isn't that much to choreograph. What I need done now is the set so that I can have my dancers to use the set when they dance.

Monday is just another day that I am looking forward to.

February 23rd Another Great Rehearsal

Today was Friday but today was a great day just like it was on Wednesday!

We went through the first 8 numbers, skipped around a few numbers, reviewed and added on to "Anything Goes" and then began choreography of the next big number "Blow Gabriel Blow" So when we got ready for this number, we had to use the chairs that they were planning on using for an orchestra concert on Sunday and Monday night. We set up the stage as if it was a sermon setting. Reno and my angels would be at the top of the platform overlooking the sermon and then the scene would continue.

I got a good start on the beginning choreography for it but now the goal is to continue with that and get through a good half of it on Wednesday!

February 19th GREAT Rehearsal

So today was probably the best rehearsal that I could have had! I wanted to try a new way of getting through a good amount of the musical numbers so I started with the first number "I Get a Kick Out of You" where I have my leading lady Reno and my leading guy Billy up at front at the bar and Reno just pours her heart out to Billy because she really loves him.

The next number we knocked out was "There's No Cure Like Travel" where I had only my sailors because my captain was out of town at a funeral. We knocked out some more numbers, including "You're the Top" "Easy to Love" and "Friendship". The kids got so exicited that they were learning more numbers besides the same old "Anything Goes,"

The next big number that we are getting ready to choreograph is "Blow Gabriel Blow" where I literally need everyone! This is second biggest number for the kids to learn and they are getting excited about it too!

February 12, 2014 ANYTHING GOES REHEARSAL

So, today was a stressful day of rehearsal.

I have finally hit a speed bump that is going to be a slowing problem for getting this big dance number done. Not only is the music that was given to me not correct, but half my cast is not showing up to the rehearsals. Now, that is both frustrating and rude, I believe. Not only are you slowing the process of getting stuff done and taken care of, people are wasting valuable time that we do not have. Our show is going to show in less than 2 months and we are still only on the first number of the dance.

Realizing what it takes to take care of everything in the musical theater world, it is very stressful. My goal is to get at least 95% of the cast there at the same time. We will see how that goes. Wish me luck.
