First Chorus Rehearsal (music)

Last night I attended the first one 3 "introductory" music rehearsals for the chorus scenes within The Final Battle. Our composer/conductor, Lena, covered all the songs that have chorus parts, no matter how big or small the parts in the song are. Because singing as a group would be very difficult to do online, all she did was go through each song and covered technical aspects of the music, such as crescendos, accents, ending consonants, etc. As a new cast member, learning all this new music has been a little bit of a challenge. First, acquiring and downloading it, then finding time to listen to it. For the latter, however, in retrospect I had more free time than I thought that i could have been devoting to learning the music quicker. All I had managed was one full play-through of each song while following along in the score (which I printed off and organized into a binder). Having listened to the music though, I was very impressed by what Lena had created, and could not wait to keep working on it.
A couple things that I learned from this: I need to work on my time-management and preparatory skills. If I have any sort of role to play in a show, I need to put all my effort into preparing for that role, in order for the show to be at its best. If I want to make this my career, I need to take this seriously. there is so much competition out there, and if I want to make a name for myself, I have top pull out all the stops, even if I'm only in collegiate training right now.
