When your teaching at a place that only has one big performance a year, the days and sessions can get repetitive and frustrating. I am someone who lives for being on stage and performing, and even though I don't do that anymore I still want to see my students in many big performances. Without performances through out the year, the practices can get boring because of the repetitive nature and lack of build up for the multiple different performances. It also puts a lot of pressure on the one recital.
Although I love teaching here, I miss traveling to competitions multiple weekends in the spring and competing. For me, dance is much more fun when you bring the competition side out. Hopefully soon I will start teaching at a competitive school so I can relive the excitement.
